Well we "challenged the electrocution devils" and managed to pull off a rockin' show for at least a couple hundred folks at Ricky Boscarino's Luna Parc in Montague , NJ last weekend. The rains, power problems and muck could not keep the band down. We shared the stage with the AWESOME Blue Moose and the Unbuttoned Zippers - check them out ! The working set is now composed of 9 Originals and 2-3 tasty & tasteful covers - this time "Loser" for our nod to the Dead and "Jump for Joy" one of our faves from the Kingfish Live Album , a nod to our love of the lesser known, more obscure "deep tracks." We even had featured dancers on stage with us - you can see the shadows if you watch this video closely :) Check out Ricky's site if you never have or make a return visit of you like -http://www.lunaparc.com/ and stay tuned to where we're headed at www.myspace.com/theyknowmusic or http://www.theyknowmusic.com/. There are "teasers" up- named with abbreviations - to listen to from our not yet completed studio recordings . We'll be releasing the finished singles one by one very soon!
Stay Tuned.............................

Lee's Keys was a whole lotta fun ! We love Seventh Street Coffee and playing out in the sparklin' sun was as good a way as I know how to let them all know it. Thanks to all who showed up and supported the amazingly fun weekend of Free Music and Friendship. Nice pix attached thanks to Leah and even a link to a YouTube Video http://www.youtube.com/user/warehouse1king.

LEE'S KEYS - Saturday JULY 18,2009 1-3 PM @ Seventh Street Coffee on Broad, Milford PA .

Hey y'all - the recording project with They Know continues to move forward. It's great fun and we've got some smokin' stuff done. We've added Ruth Ann McFarlane to the lineup for vox and the 3 part stack is sounding sweet. We're going to roll out the new stuff and lineup at a private party at Luna Parc in Montague NJ in late August.

Lee has another solo keys gig at Seventh Street Coffee this weekend. Come on out if the Spirit moves you. It should be a mellow and enjoyable afternoon and a great way to support our friends at Seventh Street. peace & aloha

We're Back ! The band spent 15 hours in the studio last weekend laying down a bunch of oour original music. It was fun, exciting and very productive, thanks in no small part to our host, producer and engineer Mr Alan "Jax" Bowers of Mudcut Studios in Milford, PA ( http://www.mudcut.com/) Look for an updated site and the new tunes here very soon. We will also be letting you know about some summer shows- so stayed tuned and catch us LIVE !

Welcome Back ! After a "working hiatus" of several months THEY KNOW is back and ready to play some Rock n Roll. Basically we wanted a change from playing other people's music and with that in mind sat down throughout the winter months and wrote our own set of Original Tunes. The reconfigured version of THEY KNOW rolled the new music out here in NEPA at a private party in Greeley, PA a couple of weeks ago and the "reviews" were favorable. The website is being updated and a new and improved version will be up soon along with Summer Gig dates. Hope to see all our fans and friends out to party with us soon!

Hey all - we had a great time playing at Seventh Street again during the Milford Music Festival.
Weather was awesome, we got a terrific crwod out and a lot of folks passing through for a smoothie or latte got to hear us . We even managed to snag a fairly decent recording of the show so that should be available soon to any one who's interested. Next gigs on the books are for Phoenixville on July 27 and a return to the Riddlewood Pool Fundraiser in Media. Check with us for details if you'd like to come out to either event.

They Still Know!

We (Barb and I) went to see Brother LeeBo's band last night with some friends. No green beer but they did have Guiness flowing and we wore green so St Paddy's day was appropriately celebrated. While it was of course great to see a brother from out of state, and Lee is doing well and sends greetings to all (which he should post on occasion, He Knows this), the band was kick ass. Jamming versions of songs we grew up listening to in the 60s and 70s, Stones, Steve Miller (great version of The Joker), Floyd, Dead, Neil, Bromberg, many others. Toward the end of their 3rd set they were in the middle of a rocking Dark Side of the Moon and out of nowhere this haunting guitar solo bursts forth, just kind of merging from Dark Side into Down By the River (very Grateful Dead like fusion of two songs), we look up at the stage and there is freaking Neil Young just wailing on a borrowed guitar. Some of us rush the stage, really electric. OK it was just me rushing the stage, and it wasnt really Neil, just some guy from the auidience named Barry I think, and if I had to guess he went to high school with Lee and the rest of the band, but it was still great great fun.If you get the chance - and you can or do cuz Lee kindly sends out notices to those who have expressed interest - see They Know, They are Worthy !!!

* The "mystery guitarman" was actually Ken Lawson who went to Penn State with our frontman Dan and drummer Dave - truly 6 degrees of separation !!! *

Rockin in Chester County

Feeling some nice momentum as the Spring approaches and the prospect of new shows arises. Played to a really GREAT crowd at THE LOUNGE on February 17 and captured the whole show on a fairly good digital recording. Hoping some of the tunes and tasty jams will make it onto the ever-elusive THEY KNOW LIVE CD. We’re cutting, pasting and tweaking mildly …….. always a work in progress.

It was a treat to have our pal Gil back in the soundman’s seat. What can I say – an awesome job by and awesome dude AND he takes pictures! He captured some dynamite images that should make their way onto the site soon.

Next up: ST. PATRICKS DAY at THE LOUNGE. Planning another rockin’ show on March 17 – start time around 10 PM. Hope to see all our friends out for this one.

CASA DeLUCCIA SESSION - JANUARY, 2007

Thursday, January 18, 2007

What's Going On ................

We had a great time at The Lounge in Exton for our December 16 holiday party. So many friends and family showed up and I think everyone there could "feel the Love." Everyone liked it so much that we've re-booked for Saturday February 17 and then for St . Patricks Day - Saturday March 17. Save the Dates. Our friends' band RELYKS is also playing there on March 3 and they totally rock- so check 'em out as well.

Right now we are working on some set changes ( always a work in progress) and managing to get in rehearsal time despite our busy schedules and geographical differences. Plans are in the works for a big Festival type gig over Memorial Day Weekend at Lee's place in Dingmans Ferry, up in the Poconos. There's plenty of room for tent camping on the property ( in the woods) and new Guest Quarters for kitchen , bathroom and other facilities. It should be a great weekend event. More details to follow over the next couple of months but if anyone is interested - block the weekend and give us a shout. We will also most likely be back at the Milford Music Festival in June.

The pianoman has a new Zoom H4 digital recorder so at long last we hope to get some better quality Live Show audio up on the site for y'all in 2007. It's coming - we promise! And speaking of recording, many special thanks to Josh ( for audio recording, sound and lights) and Amie ( for videography) at the Holiday Show. You guys RoCK !!!!!

Let us know your ideas and any party dates that you may want to book with the band. Looking forward to seeing everyone out dancing with THEY KNOW soon.

Holiday Greetings !

Hope everyone is saving the date - December 16 - for the band's holiday festivities at The Lounge in Exton, PA. We hope to have a record crowd out and make it into a real dance party. If you're in the area that night we should be making music by 9 and playing until about 1 so stop by and say hi. We've added some tunes and spiced up the sets and the sound lately so if you haven't seen a show recently you might just be surprised. Many thanks to all who have supported the band with a special nod to each of our families who put up with rehearsals, gear, long road trips and waiting around !!! You are the ones who make it all happen.
Come on Clap Your Hands !!!!! Oh yeah and check out this JamBase link as well: http://www.jambase.com/search.asp?bandID=41346&display=bio

Another Great Gig @ Seventh Street Coffee in Milford.
Many thanks to everyone who came out and supported us once again. It was heartening to see a steady flow of smiling faces over the course of this sunny November afternoon up here in the Poconos.

Special thanks as always to Dave, Craig and Mike our hosts who as always made this another effortless adventure for the band. Also to our pal Josh Nodarse , a talented composer and guitarman in his own right, who manned the headphones and digital recorder and also kept an ear on our sound throughout the day. Word is we got some nice tracks down, which hopefully will be appearing in the MUSIC section of the website shortly. For those of you who didn't get notified of the gig and wanted to be, please e-mail the band and we'll add you to the e-mail Gig Notification List. We're adding new tunes and updating the sets constantly so if you havent heard the band in a while come on out and see us soon. There should be some gigs upcoming and posted here very soon. Also it's not too late to book THEY KNOW for your private holiday parties !!!!

LISTEN to the MUSIC !!!!!

If you haven't already found it here's a little note to check out the Music Section of our website. Thanks to LeShawn for posting the clips that so many of you have been requesting. All are from Live Shows over the past year. They are all taken from very basic stereo room recordings with absolutely no "tweaking." Hopefully they capture some of the energy and magic of TK LIVE! There are two "unplugged" clips as well from the Derby Day Benefit - lets the vocals get upfront a wee bit more. So have a listen and let us know what you think! Now that we've started, hope to keep the music updated as newer recordings happen.

The band is back at work, presently chipping away at what will be a whole new set or several tunes that can be woven into the present material. At present were kicking around some gig dates for between now an the end of 2006. Ideally there will be one big gig in the Philly burbs and another up here for the Pocono contingent. Keep watching ....... and listening !!!!!!

A NIGHT of PURE MAGIC

THEY KNOW capped an amazing summer gig season at Ricky Boscarino's fantastic and phantasmagorical Luna Parc in Montague NJ on August 26. We rocked a beautiful and creative crowd of 300 plus as they wandered the grounds and took in the sights and sensations of this magnificent work in progress. For those who haven't yet done so -- check out www.lunaparc.com You're in for a treat!

Ricky, you always the gracious host and I cherish our friendship forever.

One of the most energizing aspects for the band came from the dance floor -- which was packed from the first note of our signature opening Gigolo Aunt right through to the last notes of Rockin in the Free World - 2 sets later. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. My own personal highlight was accompanying the fireworks with Breathe - phew !

At present we are looking to book some Fall gig dates so stay tuned. Most likely the next time out will be down in the Philly 'burbs so stay tuned !

DAVEFEST 2006

Well, more than a little late in posting this but many thanks to Dave & Caryl Stouber for a great time down in Landenberg, PA on July 15th. More wet hot and steamy weather could not deter the music, even if the PA & speakers did end up a tad “cardboard-sounding” by the end of the night. We had planned a little weather –related subset with Like a Hurricane, Cold Rain & Snow and Summer Breeze to sort of highlight the zany weather incidents of our summer gigs this year. Turns out Morning or actually Evening Dew would have been the most appropriate choice ! I for one really appreciated diving into that pool at the end of the night.

Great tuneage from the PSU “reunion” band that kicked things off followed by the always tight and smooth sounds of KIWI. Don’t know them? Worth a listen at http://www.kiwiband.com/ . – you won’t be disappointed. Special thanks to Joe Zeppy for jumping on as our fourth vocalist – eeeee haw!

For those of you who asked, we’re in the process of getting audio up on this website and should have some nice live clips up from recent gigs very soon. Thanks for following the band and for all of the positive comments and support.

Fundraiser this weekend down in Delaware County and then Ricky Boscarino’s fabulous Luna Park Festival in Sussex County NJ in late August. E-mail us for details (since both are by invite) or to book a gig date with THEY KNOW. If anyone else is interested in joining/posting on this blog please let me know – it’s easy !

Recent Gig Shots - Thanks to Lisa !!!

Fifth Annual Solstice

Well in spite of all you’ve gained, you still have to stand out in the pouring rain….”

As Dan sang these words to Sugaree we all smiled slyly during this year’s slushy Solstice fete at Johnny Roberts' farm. THEY KNOW was the first band in the line-up after the rousing National Anthem and magnificent bagpipers. Despite the biblical rains the turnout was impressive. A killer sound system and crackerjack soundmen made for a crispy mix amidst the thunderous downpours and mists under the tent. Thanks guys. The drama of the Big Weather only seemed to fuel the sound. I did lots of one – handed key moves, using the other to towel off the drips !

Also a word of thanks to Chris Richards who jumped in on drums at the eleventh hour when our drummer Young Dave had family commitments to attend to. It was a pleasure to work with a real pro – nice job!

No recordings of this one but we really fell into a groove and there were some fairly deep musical jams and lots of bouncing bodies looking on – thanks to all who braved the weather especially to my old pals Joe McGrogan and Mitch Sharp who came early and stayed for the duration of our set. Check out their local band RELYKS at http://users.zoominternet.net/~relyksrock/news_2.html and catch them live sometime soon as well.

More gigs on the way with parties in Southeast PA ( friends & family welcome- e-mail for details) over the next few weeks then back up here to NEPA ( actually right across the river in Sussex County NJ) for Ricky Boscarino’s Luna Parc Festival in August. Hope to see you all out at one or more of these venues!

MILFORD MUSIC FESTIVAL

Just had to say a few words of thanks after a terrific gig during this past weekend's Music Festival. The festival was amazing and as a band we are truly grateful to have been a part of things. Altec Lansing and all the other local sponsors and volunteers did a beautiful job.

THEY KNOW rocked Seventh Street Coffee and once again our hosts Craig, Dave & Mike did all they could to make it a seamless gig for us. You guys are the best! I was also humbled by all the folks that showed up to hear us - some really loyal fans and great friends and family all the way around. Nothing gets a band more heated up than a packed house. I think we kept you movin' - :) ! Keep watching the site for gig updates as we are sure to be back up here in Pike County again soon.

Next gig is in 2 weeks back down "south" in Chester County. We'll be playing at the 4th Annual Solstice Festival in Downingtown. If anyone needs directions or information e-mail us and we'll get it back to you. There are also a few summer dates left if anyone is interested in booking THEY KNOW. We're up for almost anything! Feel free to e-mail any comments, or requests to the site.

Spring is coming early to Northeast PA (NEPA) this year. This warm weekend seems to be soothing all the cabin fever up here. Everyone’s outside – thawing out. THEY KNOW continues to heat up as well. So fortunate to have had lots of rehearsal time as of late and the weekly tapes play out the smooth new groove that’s been incubating all winter.

For those friends and fans who haven’t heard us in a while – there are some nice new surprises from Donovan and ELP to Mott the Hoople and …… well I don’t want to give away too much! Let’s just say bring your dancing shoes next time you head out to catch us and feel the music play the band !

We’re all putting together dates and gigs for the spring & summer. Hope to get them posted on this site soon. Looks like some fun venues both down Philly way and up here as well.

Also pencil in the weekend of June 9-11 for the Milford Music Festival and check out their website for frequent updates. www.milfordmusic.org. We’re pretty sure THEY KNOW will be in town that weekend at one hotspot or another and we’re hoping to draw our usual BIG crowd !!!! It’s a gorgeous time in the Poconos so plan to make a weekend of it. New Riders of the Purple Sage are headlining and there is a lot of great music all day and into the night. So more to come very soon.

January 18, 2006.....
....Letting the days go by.....pouring winter rain here in S.E. Pennsylvania. Welcome to the first ever They Know Blauggh....
What's happening: 2005 concluded with a ripping house party at Bentley's Casa deLuccia. We played, adoring fans threw themselves at our feet and occaisionally right on top of us. It was great fun. It was our first gig to feature our new drummer, Dave (young David) Stouber. It was quite amusing to launch into some of our "standards" and watch the look on Dave's face as he (and we) realized that he had never, ever played the song(s) with us before. To his credit, he jumped in bravely and did not flinch.
And so to 2006. We have been rehearsing a lot of new material and a lot of old material. There's a lot we hope to accomplish this year: new material, maybe even some new, original material. Updated website. New recording(s). Etc. Gigs? As is typical for us, there's very little on the boards now, but usually by late Spring, things start taking shape.
If you are interested in having They Know play at your party/event/whatever, just drop us a line at theyknowmusic@yahoo.com

More Blauggh soon,

Dan E

To All Friends, and fans of They Know

The band will be playing in Milford, PA from 3-6 PM on October 15. The gig is at Seventh Street Coffee on Broad, one of Northeast PA's most music friendly venues and is in conjunction with the Black Bear Film Festival (www.blackbearfilm.com) which runs from October 14 - 16.

THEY KNOW is composed of 5 guys who grew up playing music together in the Philadelphia area. As happens, folks drifted apart to other Coasts and even other countries but now have fallen into a nice groove playing when and where we can for the sheer joy of making music.

The tunes are an eclectic mix of rock and roll favorites, one hit wonders, San Francisco inspired jams and classic rock. Most likely there will be a mix of acoustic and electric music woven throughout the sets this time around.

For those of you who don't know, Milford is about 120 miles from the Philly Metro Area, 60 miles from the Lehigh Valley, 50 miles from Scranton and 70 miles from NYC. It is in the Northeast corner where NY, NJ and PA all meet.

On the border of the Delaware Water Gap national Recreation Area, Milford is a Victorian Village with lots of antiques, galleries and some great inns and restaurants. The Black Bear Film Festival is a World Class Festival but with a nice small town vibe.

Soooooooooo.............. come on out and support the films, have a Latte or two and rock with us at Seventh Street Coffee on Broad. Why not make it a Weekend!!!!!!!!!!!

Check directions on MapQuest. If it's too confusing feel free to e-mail me-leeking2 @aol.com and I'll hook you up. See you on the 15th peace & aloha Lee Raden( the pianoman)
